Temptation

Peppermint bark: temptation in a jar.

It has chocolaty-richness and minty-freshness. How can you deny it's perfection?

You can't.

Unless something is wrong with you. No offense.

It couldn't be easier to make. There are recipes out there...but don't waste time looking them up.

All you need to do is smash a load of peppermints. I use an old school ice cream scoop to pulverize those striped babies.

Melt some chocolate.

Stir together and spread on a parchment lined baking sheet. Stick in the fridge to set.

Easy peasy.

Your offspring can help too. But you will have to watch for little snitchers.

I was left with a mound of the traditional version.

And a more avant-garde variety: a mix of milk and dark chocolate.

Break into pieces and place into a simple glass jar.

Tie some festive ribbon around the top.

Place back in the original packaging for easy delivery.

A cute, simple, tasty gift.

Perfect for warding off my descent into overwhelmed holiday madness.
