Switching Gears

Now that the latest quilt is complete I am feeling the need to switch gears. Crochet anyone?

You see, I have been working on an afghan for seven years. Yes, you read that correctly. Seven years. In fact, I have named it "Seven Years In the Making". I started it shortly after my son was born. It is a large afghan made of what seems like thousands of small granny squares. They don't take long to crank out...but there are just so many of them! And I get bored. I will get on a crochet kick, want to make some progress, and get a bunch done only to put it away again. I have to get this thing finished or I will have to change the name to "Eight Years In the Making".

On a side note, I made this crochet hook roll a couple of months ago hoping that it would inspire me to focus on granny squares. Instead, I got sidetracked and made a couple of scarves. I had been saving the orange outer fabric for something special and liked the way it played off the green and brown of the interior. I used Erin's tip and used a hair elastic for the loop instead of regular cording. There are many more color options with hair elastics than the cording found at the fabric store.

So, the next few days will be set aside to crochet. To make progress. To be one step closer to finishing.
